The Law
Qualifications
Drones come under the Civil Aviation Authority and Air Crash Investigation, the same as regular aeroplanes and pilots. Drone pilots must hold a valid GVC license and if they are to fly within 50 metres of the property, they must also have a valid A2 CofC certificate. These qualifications are not something that you can apply for and receive in the post. A drone pilot ha to go through extensive training and examination.
Precautions
Drone pilots must have submitted an ops manual and have it approved by the CAA. They must carry out weather checks the night before a flight, the morning of the flight and just before each flight. An extensive risk assessment must be carried out before the flight and be filed incase it is required by the CAA or Air Crash Investigators.
